About the event
Tatiana began as a designer and illustrator, and that training still shows. Her large-scale canvases are built from bold gestural marks, etched lines and a private language of her own, with fragments of her poetry moving between Spanish and English. Drawing on memory, migration and the tension between chaos and harmony, she paints the experience of living between two cultures. The colonial rooftops of Bogotá, with their irregular lines and dynamic rhythm, remain a constant source of inspiration.
Tatiana was an artist in residence at Asia Society Texas in 2023 and has exhibited in Houston and internationally.
During this visit, Tatiana will:
Walk you through her studio and her current body of work
Show how she builds a painting, from materials to mark-making
Speak about her path from Bogotá to Houston
