MIRA Brings Latin American Art to Paris

For its second edition, MIRA returned to the historic hôtel particulier of the Maison de l’Amérique latine on Boulevard Saint-Germain, offering a refreshing pause amid the intensity of Paris Photo week. Rather than overwhelming scale, MIRA chose intimacy and genuine proximity between artworks and visitors.

Around twenty galleries from Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and beyond took part, each contributing to a vibrant yet finely curated snapshot of contemporary Latin American creation.

Among the highlights, Leyla Cárdenas, presented by Galerie Dix9 Hélène Lacharmoise, unveiled textile-printed photographs whose delicate fraying evokes the fragile layers of memory and architecture. 193 Gallery, one of the rare Paris institutions deeply invested in championing diversity, showcased Javier Toro Blum’s radiant geometric structures.

In a week dominated by the immensity of Paris Photo, MIRA stands out as a rare human-scaled moment—thoughtful, measured, and authentically connected to the communities and cultures it represents.

A well-deserved bravo to Manuel Rayo, director of the fair, for shaping an edition that doesn’t merely showcase Latin American art, but celebrates its vitality, contemporaneity, and unmistakable soul.
